As I am set to write my first blog, which by the way I thought I would never do, I am filled with a sense of injustice, a sense of outrage and hypocrasy, and a sense of forboding all rolled into one. With everything going on in our country today, it just feels like every where I turn there is another story that unnerves me. From Perez Hilton's latest outbursts and pseudo-apologies for using a derogatory slur on someone (which he did profusely to Ms. Prejean and very few people were outraged) to our tride and true House and Senate who seem to truly have no accountability or apprehension on spending, to the constant corporate buyout of America by our own government, it appears that there is no end in sight and that our country is in a deep and irreversible downward spiral. If the refuted "global warming" topic does not do the trick, then how about a good old dose of no repercussions for anything said by a non-conservative. And yet, amid this constant cacophany of blather and meandering of the minds, I am optimistic if not hopeful that all will be well in the end. As Mr. Medved so eloquently states in his wonderful book "The 10 Big Lies About America", we are not doomed, this is not the worst it has ever been in our history, and our great country will surely rebound. I firmly believe that even though it appears we are in dire straits, the way is still available to us. The path may not be hidden, but it is certainly overgrown with obstacles. Yet this is when the cream rises to the top, when great men and women step forward to unite for the common good, to put their country and countrymen ahead of the individual. During times such as these we have been blessed with the likes of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and Ronald Reagan. Stalwarts of justice, equality and moral values that should be common sense and shared among most Americans. As Edmund Burke once said, "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." That is where we all come in to play, everyone must fight the good fight and be willing to take abuse, ridicule and sometimes worse. This trajectory our nation is heading can be changed, but Americans must come together and be heard with one loud voice. We must utilize our constitutional rights, and continue to pursue the ideals of our American founders that make this "the greatest nation on God's green earth." A nation of voices in unison will not be ignored.
